Strategy + Execution = Performance

Perspective Matters is a strategic planning and performance consultancy. We’re good at it because this is simply all we do.

When we think about business success, we think about strategy and we think about how top teams execute. When our clients have performance issues, then our default setting tends to start by taking a look at what strategic framework is in place. It’s a ‘top of pyramid’, starter-for-ten for pretty much every initial conversation we have with new clients. We love to share our views and opinions on the topics that we are passionate about.

Boring?

Mention strategy and you might get a cynical, bored rolling of the eyes. Mention ‘strategic’ and ‘planning’ in the same sentence and that look will probably be upgraded with a yawn and a total glazing over. The reality is that, over the long-term, companies that have - and faithfully execute - a strategic plan are more resilient to business shocks and headwinds than those that don’t. Don’t just take our word for it, there has been extensive research proving it; take a look at this report from Strategy& and you’ll see what we mean.

LEADERSHIP & EXECUTION

There’s an expression in the scuba diving community that is often taught as a mantra to keep new divers safe. It goes like this, ‘Plan your dive, then dive your plan.’ There is simply no point having a strategic plan unless you are prepared to execute it. When robustly applied to a business a strategic plan forms the absolute foundation for what each functional element of a business will be doing. A strategic plan forms the glue between executives, it forms the glue between their own divisions and departments, it helps to set objectives for the year ahead and it ensures that the organisation becomes a learning system, connected by a common purpose. One thing is certain: it won’t execute itself.

Expert. Our clients say so

We spend much of our time running strategic planning workshops, strategic plan reviews and strategic plan audits all over the world. We have done this across many different sectors including SaaS, telecoms, media and technology, publishing and sporting talent management. Our engagements point clearly to one trend: once a company has committed to a strategic planning conversation it becomes part of the business heartbeat driving success. Again, don’t just take our word for it, take a look at what our clients say.
